His mother died because of the game. He now lives in the perimeter, making him part of the people opposed to the games and their oppression. He is Doria’s brother, protective and loyal to her, and ultimately forced to compete to save her. Guided by principles and a strong sense of justice, he has an inner strength that drives him to protect his loved ones at all costs, even if it means going against his own beliefs. He carries a quiet strength, with a simmering anger beneath the surface because he disagrees with the society he lives in. Despite this, he is caring and empathetic toward those around him.
